I am directed by Mr Secretary Chamberlain
to inform you with reference to your letter
to the Board of Trade of the 13th October
last, that the Lighthouse on Waglan Island
will be taken over by the Goverment of
Hong Kong from the 1st January next.

A despatch has been received from the
Governor, asking that light-keepers may be
engaged in this country and sent out so as
to reach the Colony by the above date; and
I am to enquire whether the Elder Brethren
can rec ammend to Mr.Chamberlain any suitable
men from their own service.
